Concordat is a French word for a formal agreement between two or more parties. It is synonymous with words such as pact and covenant, but in the 17th century it was designated as the official name of an agreement between church and state to regulate ecclesiastical affairs. A historic concordat was concluded in 1801 between Napoleon Bonaparte as first consul and Pope Pius VII. It defined the status of the Roman Catholic Church in France and regulated relations between Church and State. And on his way out, he lived up to the letter of their approval. After all, he and his commissioners have cancelled or repealed dozens of other environmental regulations, practices and agreements over the past four years. That decision went hand in hand with a bipartisan agreement to offer all registered voters the opportunity to vote by mail or early recall, according to the Louisville Courier Journal. The French word is derived from the Latin compromissum, which itself is related to the earlier participle compromittere (promittere means “promise”). In English, compromit was once used as a synonym for the verb compromised in its outdated sense “to bind by mutual agreement” and in its modern sense “to cause the deficiency of”. Ronald Reagan approved the deal and the USTR reviewed Korean practices until the end of his term. By agreement, all parties met at Indian Spring to consider a second treaty in early February 1825.
EDITOR`S NOTE: There are other words that refer to different types of agreements – such as agreement, pact, promise, settlement and contract – but we have only promised A, B and C. We have kept that promise. A verb refers to compromise as giving up something you want in order to reach a mutual agreement (“The union and the employer have agreed on a compromise”). Another meaning is to “expose suspicion, discredit or misdeeds,” as in “The actor`s career was compromised by his politically incorrect tweets” or “The editor would not compromise his principles.” And as mentioned above, it can mean that someone or something is exposed to serious risks, dangers, or consequences. Confidential information, national security or the immune system could be called a “compromise”. In law, consent is used specifically for voluntary consent or tonation by an adult who is not under duress or coercion and who usually has knowledge or understanding. .
